Shipman & Goodwin land use attorneys Tim Hollister and Chris Smith will explain sewer law and sewer system use by property owners and developers in Connecticut, with cases from around the nation as comparison points. Topics will include (1) the powers of sewer authorities; (2) rights of property owners to connect to and use sewer systems; (3) how municipalities can use sewer systems to shape and sometimes curb new development; (4) best practices and procedures for ensuring equitable sewer capacity allocations; and (5) municipal practices that have been challenged in the courts.

This CLE program has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the New York CLE Board for a maximum of 1.0 credit hour, of which 1.0 can be applied toward the Professional Practice requirement. This program is appropriate for both transitional and nontransitional attorneys.
