This webinar program is presented as part of a series titled, International Trade Compliance Webinar Training Program, presented by the U.S. Commercial Service.  This webinar series consists of thirteen one hour to 90 minute webinars starting in early April running through late May 2015.

This presentation in the series will address:

Economic sanctions and trade embargoes increasingly affect the day-to-day business of companies engaged in international trade.  The U.S. is a party to a wide range of sanctions and trade embargoes that are administered and enforced primarily by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).  In some cases, the U.S. may issue an embargo or implement sanctions regulations in support of U.S. foreign policy (e.g., Cuban Assets Control Regulations),while in others the embargo or sanctions regulations are in furtherance of U.S. responsibilities under a multilateral agreement (e.g. United Nations and North Atlantic Treaty Organization sanctions or initiatives).  Treasury sanction programs may be list‐based (e.g., narcotics trafficking, weapons of mass destruction proliferation, and global terrorism) or country‐based (e.g., Iran, Cuba, and North Korea).  This webinar will focus on the primary economic sanctions programs, common compliance risks faced by companies, and significant current trends in enforcement.
