Clemow One of Nation's Most Powerful Labor Lawyers

July 10, 2013

Lawdragon and Human Resource Executive have selected Brian Clemow, a partner in the firm’s Hartford office, as one of the Nation’s Most Powerful Employment Attorneys in the area of Labor for 2013. This is the third consecutive year Mr. Clemow has been recognized by Lawdragon as a leading corporate employment attorney in the U.S.

Mr. Clemow is among only 20 attorneys to receive this distinction in the area of Labor, and is the only Connecticut attorney to be selected. According to Lawdragon and Human Resource Executive, selection to this exclusive list reflects the important role of employment attorneys in counseling businesses in a challenging economy and changing legislative environment.

While representing public and private employers in labor relations and employment law matters for more than 40 years, Mr. Clemow has handled a variety of notable cases. He represented the West Hartford Board of Education in the landmark case that established the parameters for teacher collective bargaining in Connecticut; handled all labor relations aspects of the establishment of a regional healthcare system that included a proposed public-private partnership in which public employees would be managed by a private entity; and negotiated a management contract with a for-profit education company on behalf of the Hartford Board of Education, which was the first municipality in the nation to hire a company to help manage its entire public school district.

Mr. Clemow is a former Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law section, and is a frequent speaker on employment-related topics before business and professional groups. He has taught various courses in labor relations and employment law at the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

In 2012, Lawdragon named Mr. Clemow one of the Top 20 Attorneys in Traditional Labor & Employment in its Guide to World Class Employment Lawyers. In 2011, he was selected as one of the 100 most powerful corporate employment attorneys in America.
