Michael A. King

Counsel
Michael practices primarily in the area of complex commercial and business litigation, where he represents clients in disputes involving general franchise and petroleum marketing issues, contracts, business torts, fiduciary duties, and unfair trade practice claims. Michael also has experience representing clients as plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury actions and advocating for clients in landlord-tenant disputes. He represents clients in federal and state courts, at the trial and appellate levels.
In addition, Michael devotes part of his practice to helping clients on a pro bono basis, with a focus on immigration matters. He has experience preparing asylum applications, humanitarian parole applications, and counseling immigrants applying to become naturalized U.S. citizens. Michael also serves on multiple committees at Shipman, including the Pro Bono Committee, Technology Committee, Wellbeing Committee, and Associates' Committee.
Prior to joining the firm, Mike served as a judicial law clerk to both the Hon. Christine E. Keller and the Hon. Carmen E. Espinosa at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Before that, Michael was a Summer Associate at Shipman. While in law school, he served as the CONNtemplations Editor for Volume 44 of the Connecticut Law Review.
