Matthew B. Gibbons

Matt Gibbons is a former United States Marine Corps infantry squad leader, a combat veteran, and now a litigator in state and federal courts. Matt assists people and businesses in the pre-complaint, pretrial, trial, and appellate stages of litigation, and his practice includes:
- Representing clients in complex commercial litigation regarding intellectual property, trade secrets, and unfair trade practices;
- Defending people and entities against government investigations;
- Representing individuals who have been injured.
Prior to joining Shipman, he was an attorney in North Carolina, and before that he was a law clerk for the Honorable U.S. District Judge Liam O’Grady in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He also worked as a legal intern for the National Security Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. full time for one semester during law school.
