Kelsey Scarlett is a member of the firm’s School Law Practice Group, where she advises public and independent schools and colleges and universities on a variety of general education and labor and employment issues. Kelsey’s practice focuses on student discipline, Title IX and sexual misconduct, policy drafting, the rights of transgender and gender-minority students, complaints from the Office of Civil Rights (OCR), and employee and student investigations. She regularly attends Title IX seminars and has received ATIXA training.
Kelsey was a panelist at Boston University School of Law’s Symposium entitled "Title IX at 50: Learning From the Past and Looking to the Future." She also co-authored a law review article published at California Western Law Review entitled Transforming the Focus: An Intersectional Lens in School Response to Sex Discrimination.
Prior to joining Shipman, she was a Legal Intern for the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Solicitor and a Legal Assistant to the Executive Director of the Civil Litigation & Justice Program at Boston University School of Law.
