Elizabeth H. Buchanan
Associate
Elizabeth Buchanan is an associate in the firm's Business and Commercial Litigation and Criminal Defense practice groups. She has experience in a variety of commercial litigation, including contract disputes, business torts and complex commercial litigation. In criminal defense matters she represents individuals accused of crimes in federal and state courts, including fraud, possession and sale of controlled substances, and infractions. In addition, Elizabeth assists public and private schools and universities in conducting internal investigations, including Title IX investigations, and represents boards of education in matters regarding special education disputes. Elizabeth is a United Educators pre-approved investigator.
Elizabeth is an active member of the firm’s pro bono committee, providing free legal services to individuals, including children and refugees.
Prior to joining Shipman, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Magistrate Judge William Garfinkel at the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
