Michael Witschel is an associate in the firm's Business and Finance Practice Group, where he practices in the areas of corporate trust, complex financial transactions and default and workout situations. He represents clients, including indenture trustees and other fiduciaries, in a variety of secured and unsecured financing transactions from deal inception through ongoing administration. In addition, Michael handles corporate debt issuances, high-yield bond issuances, aircraft leasing and finance, collateral agencies and escrow and depositary relationships.

Prior to joining Shipman & Goodwin, Michael was a law clerk and summer associate in the Washington, D.C., office of a national construction and government contracts law firm, as well as a law clerk at the Federal National Mortgage Association. While in law school, he also served as a pro bono intern at a domestic violence nonprofit in the District of Columbia. Before attending law school, he worked in the syndication practice group of an international law firm.

Michael is fluent in Spanish, French and German, and is proficient in Portuguese.
