Jiran Elected President of Legal Diversity Collaborative

July 9, 2015

Firm partner Gabriel J. Jiran has been elected to serve as President of the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity (LCD).

Attorney Jiran has served on LCD’s Board of Directors, most recently as the organization’s Vice President/President-Elect, and has participated in many of its programs, including serving as a mentor to minority law students through the organization’s mentorship program. LCD was formed to make Connecticut a more attractive place for lawyers of color and women to practice law by uniting the resources, energy and commitment of Connecticut’s leading law firms, corporations, public sector entities, law schools and state bar associations. The organization, which Shipman & Goodwin has been involved in since its inception in 2003, is committed to increasing the recruitment, retention and advancement of lawyers of color and women.

Attorney Jiran is Chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice, where he assists corporations and public employers in addressing the full spectrum of issues associated with the employment relationship. In addition, he is the former Chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee and actively promotes diversity both within and outside of the firm.
