Shipman & Goodwin LLP is pleased to announce that managing partner Leander A. Dolphin and partner Matthew D. Ritter have both been named to Hartford Business Journal’s (“HBJ”) “Power 50 List” for 2024. The list, released this week, highlights 50 private- and public-sector, nonprofit, higher education, real estate and healthcare officials in Connecticut who are not only top leaders within their organizations, but also in the broader business community.
Dolphin, Shipman’s managing partner, continues to advise universities, colleges, public school districts, independent schools, and other public- and private-sector clients on the full range of education and employment matters. She also works with clients to develop and implement effective non-discrimination policies and to address teacher, staff and student discipline concerns, confidentiality and privacy issues in education, and special education disputes, among other areas. In addition, she is active in the community, serving on the Connecticut Business and Industry Association’s Board of Directors and as Commissioner and Chair of the Connecticut Judicial Selection Committee.
Ritter, who practices in the areas of public finance, municipal law and election law at Shipman, was named for his service as Speaker of the House of the Connecticut House of Representatives. Matt has a long history of public service. In 2010, Matt was elected as the State Representative for the 1st Assembly District covering parts of Hartford. In January 2023, Matt was unanimously elected by his peers to serve a second term as Speaker of the House of the Connecticut House of Representatives. Prior to being elected Speaker of the House, Matt had served as the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives from 2017 through 2021. In 2007, Matt was elected to Hartford, Connecticut's Court of Common Council and received the most votes in the Hartford Municipal election. Matt and his counterpart in the Senate, Martin Looney, were identified by HBJ in that capacity as “major influencers in shaping state policy.”
The HBJ’s Power 50 list for 2024 was released both digitally and in print this week.
