Shipman & Goodwin LLP is pleased to announce that Patricia A Olosky (Patty) has joined the firm's Business and Corporate practice as a Partner. Patty will concentrate on intellectual property (IP), with a particular focus on all aspects of trademark protection and enforcement, as well as copyright and domain name law.
“We are delighted to welcome Patty to our team at Shipman,” said Dormer Stephen, Chair of Shipman’s Business and Corporate department. “Patty is an outstanding IP lawyer and will be a great asset to all of our clients.”
Patty counsels clients through every phase of the brand lifecycle, from trademark clearance through registration and maintenance, both domestically and internationally. Patty also assists clients with obtaining U.S. plant patents for novel agricultural varieties, as well as U.S. plant variety protection certificates and foreign plant protections. In addition, she assists clients in enforcing and defending IP rights before the U.S. Trademark Trial & Appeal Board and its foreign counterparts. She also has extensive experience with commercial transactions involving IP rights, from negotiating agreements with employees, independent contractors, and prospective business collaborators, to advising buyers and sellers on IP issues in the course of mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate and financial transactions.
Having represented clients ranging from individuals and start-ups to global and Fortune 500 corporations that span a wide variety of industries—such as the dietary supplement, apparel, baby product, food and beverage, rail transportation, raw manufacturing materials, biomedical, computer science, and beauty industries —Patty does not believe in a “one size fits all” IP strategy. Rather, by understanding each client’s current and future needs, she provides legal advice tailored to help each client achieve its specific, individualized goals.
Patty is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and has strong relationships with attorneys throughout the world so that she is able to serve the Shipman’s clients wherever their businesses may take them.
Prior to joining Shipman, Patty was Of Counsel to a boutique IP law firm in Pennsylvania.
