Shipman Welcomes Experienced Education Lawyer Erin R. Shaffer to School Law Practice

Shipman & Goodwin LLP is pleased to announce that Erin R. Shaffer has joined the firm as Counsel in the School Law practice group. Erin brings nearly 25 years of experience in education law to the firm.
Erin will represent schools and boards of education on special and regular education matters, disciplinary issues, and school accommodation matters.

Erin served as Staff Attorney at New Haven Legal Assistance Association for nearly 20 years prior to joining Shipman. In that role, she represented clients on the full gamut of education matters, closely monitoring educational legislation and serving as an advocate for change in education laws, policies, and procedures at both the state and local level.
A Visiting Clinical Lecturer in Law at the Yale Law School in New Haven since 2007, Erin frequently presents on a wide variety of topics such as truancy, expulsion, school discipline and special education.
Erin received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1998 and graduated with a B.A. cum laude from Boston College in 1992.
