February 15, 2022
Shipman & Goodwin LLP is proud to announce that partner Daniel A. Schwartz has been elected to the American Bar Association (ABA) Board of Governors. The election took place at the ABA’s Virtual Midyear Meeting held on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Along with new Section and Division Members and Officers, Dan was elected to serve on behalf of District 18.
“Connecticut has representation on the ABA Board only once every decade," said Dan, a partner in Shipman’s Employment and Labor practice group. “Serving this three-year term on the Board is a tremendous honor and a great responsibility. I look forward to the opportunity to serve our state and ensure that the ABA's goals are being met.”
Dan is a leader in the ABA and Connecticut Bar Association, having served as an ABA Delegate since 2005 and as a member of the ABA Nominating Committee since 2015. He has also served as a Connecticut State Delegate since 2015. During his two-year tenure as Chair of the Connecticut Bar Foundation’s James W. Cooper Fellows, Dan led the Foundation’s programs related to addressing the opioid epidemic, systemic racism, rule of law, and other front-line societal issues. Outside of his volunteerism within the legal community, Dan holds several distinctions of note, including his listing in Chambers USA as a “Leading Lawyer to Business” in the Labor and Employment category since 2013. Dan frequently writes for Shipman’s Employment Law Letter, and in 2019 he received LexBlog’s “Excellence” award for exemplary writing for his award-winning blog, CTEmploymentLawblog.com.
The ABA’s new class of directors will begin serving their three-year terms following the ABA’s Annual Meeting scheduled for August 9, 2022.
