Shipman Expands National Finance and Real Estate Practice, Adding New Partner

Shipman & Goodwin LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its Finance and Real Estate practice groups with the addition of Jonathan E. Orell, who joins as a partner in the firm’s Stamford office. Jon adds further bench strength to the busy practice, leveraging his experience in sophisticated and complex finance and real estate transactions and further enhancing Shipman’s capabilities to meet client demands with highly responsive and quality legal services.

Jon will focus his practice on sophisticated and complex financial and real estate transactions, including leasing, acquisition, sale, and financing of commercial properties of all asset classes as well as non-real estate assets. He serves a diverse range of real estate clients, including owner-operators, real estate developers, and investors in connection with land acquisition, ground-up developments, and financing of all types including commercial properties restaurants, shopping centers, office buildings, and multi-family properties. He also counsels lenders in complex lending transactions including syndicated and participated loans, mezzanine financing, acquisition financing, credit enhancement, affordable housing, as well as all other types of commercial financing.
Jon is admitted to practice in both New York and Connecticut. He earned his J.D. from Brooklyn University in 2011 and his B.A. from the University of Vermont in 2006.
