April 26, 2022
Shipman & Goodwin LLP is pleased to announce that Marc Lombardi has joined the firm as the leader of its Privacy, Cybersecurity and Data Innovation practice group. Lombardi brings more than 20 years in healthcare, emerging technologies, and data innovation to the firm.
Joining Shipman to lead the firm’s expanding Privacy, Cybersecurity and Data Innovation practice group, Lombardi will lead a multi-disciplinary group of lawyers dedicated to the big data issues companies face in securing and responsibly managing their digital assets and consumer information. In addition to his many years in healthcare technology and privacy, Lombardi is a former software architect with a strong tech background. In everyday practice, he tackles client concerns ranging from data management, protection, disposal and regulatory compliance to incident/breach responses, notifications, post-breach investigation and litigation. Marc and the Privacy, Cybersecurity and Data Innovation team will guide Shipman clients through each step of the data privacy and protection lifecycle.
“Marc is a talented lawyer who is adding much more to Shipman than 20 years of legal experience,” said Leander Dolphin, Managing Partner. “For clients in every industry sector, there continues to be a critical need for Marc’s counsel and experience addressing emerging technologies, big data, and the associated digital risks. In addition to his tech background, Marc has proven that he can deftly work and communicate with a variety of audiences at every organizational level, which is instrumental in this multi-disciplinary context.”
Most recently Lombardi served as Deputy General Counsel at Yale New Haven Health System. Over 11 years, he served as lead attorney responsible for providing general counsel services to the Smilow Cancer Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, and Northeast Medical Group, the Health System’s physician foundation. Prior to joining Yale New Haven Health, Marc was an associate at Brown Rudnick and General Counsel of Triad Healthcare, Inc. While attending University of Connecticut Law School, he worked full-time as the founder/owner of Objective Technology Solutions, LLC, an independent software architecture and design firm.
“I have long been impressed by Shipman’s reputation for excellence,” said Lombardi. “I welcome the opportunity to guide the Privacy, Cybersecurity and Data Innovation practice group. We will integrate resources across the firm and marshal the talent of Shipman lawyers to meet the challenges Shipman clients encounter with emerging technology, data security, and monetizing innovation.”
Lombardi graduated from University of Connecticut School of Law in 2002 with high honors and is an honors graduate of Boston College where he received a B.A in English and Political Science.
