Following Justice Robinson’s address, the new members of HCBA’s Board of Directors were announced, including: Christopher J. Hug, Philip J. Markuszka, Elisabeth M. Swanson, Michael J. Kopsick, and Shipman & Goodwin Partner, Rebecca Santiago.
Rebecca is a Partner in Shipman’s School Law practice, representing public school districts, regional school districts, RESCS, charter schools and private schools in Connecticut with labor, employment and education matters. She serves as the chief negotiator for a number of schools in contract negotiations with teachers and administrators, as well as non-certified bargaining units. She brings not only her strong background in negotiation and debate, but also her enthusiasm and strong work ethic to HCBA.
The Hartford County Bar Association’s origins can be traced to 1783, and its illustrious founders included Oliver Ellsworth, Oliver Wolcott, Jr., Enoch Perkins, John Trumbull, and Ephraim Root. The HCBA has continued a tradition of strong leadership by countless lawyers and judges who have built it into an organization that has sustained viability and continuity of purpose for both its membership and the Hartford community. Rebecca will work with the newly named team to continue this tradition of strong leadership and community involvement throughout her one-year tenure on the Board of Directors.
