Managing Partner Leander Dolphin Named to Savoy Magazine’s 2022 List of “Most Influential Black Lawyers”
February 17, 2022
Shipman & Goodwin LLP is proud to announce that managing partner Leander A. Dolphin has been named to Savoy magazine’s 2022 list of the “Most Influential Black Lawyers.” The list, first published in 2018, recognizes the "best of the best" of Black lawyers who are partners at leading national law firms, and corporate and general counsel from Fortune 1000 corporations. As diversity and inclusion for legal professionals continues to grow, Savoy's listing represents an influential cross section of legal professionals showcasing a diverse range of expertise with national and global responsibilities.
Leander Dolphin also authored an article in Savoy entitled Shipman & Goodwin: Reimagining Law Firm Diversity. “Reimagining law firm diversity requires a reminder from… poet, Audre Lorde, that ‘[r]evolution is not a one-time event.’ We revolutionize law firms by insisting on diversity, equity and inclusion, every day, and in every decision we make,” said Dolphin. “It’s an honor to be recognized along with many of my peers by Savoy Magazine for our efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the firm, the legal profession, and in our communities. Our strength is our diversity.”
Dolphin, who practices as part of Shipman’s Education and Employer Defense practice groups, said, “Like the rest of us in the legal industry, you may be looking forward to the day when there will be fewer ‘firsts’ for women, people of color, and other groups underrepresented in law. To get there, we must be intentional and unceasing about our investment in diversity, equity and inclusion, and marry our desire for diversity with measurable action.” That measurable action is an integral part of Dolphin’s strategic plan for Shipman’s future under her leadership.
