May 12, 2022
Shipman & Goodwin LLP’s Managing Partner, Leander A. Dolphin was announced by Connecticut Law Tribune as the 2022 Attorney of the Year. Leander accepted the prestigious award at the Connecticut Legal Awards dinner last night at the Aqua Turf in Plantsville. The annual award is given to one lawyer who has had outstanding success and has made a significant impact on Connecticut’s legal community.
Leander received the award for her tangible achievements in her leadership role at Shipman, as well as for her tireless work on behalf of social justice, equity and inclusion in the legal profession and in our community.
“I am deeply honored to accept this award,” said Dolphin, “and I look forward to the day when there will be fewer ‘firsts’ for women, people of color, and other groups underrepresented in law.”
Shipman was also one of the three finalists for the Diversity Initiative, a new award given for the first time this year to a firm that has made significant contributions to diversity and inclusion efforts in Connecticut’s legal community.
Pete Maher and Sarah Westby also accepted awards as New Leaders in the Law at last night’s dinner. Their awards were announced prior to last night’s awards ceremony. In all, 80-plus winners from more than 45 different firms and organizations in Connecticut were recognized in this year’s class of honorees.
