Latonia Williams Named a James W. Cooper Fellow by CT Bar Foundation

Shipman & Goodwin attorney Latonia C. Williams has been selected as a James W. Cooper Fellow by the Connecticut Bar Foundation (CBF). The mission of CBF is to promote equal access to justice in Connecticut. To be chosen, attorneys must demonstrate superior legal ability and devotion to the welfare of the community, state and nation, as well as to the advancement of the legal profession.
Ms. Williams is a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Practice Group, where she regularly represents the interests of her clients in bankruptcy, commercial litigation, contract disputes, and other creditors’ rights matters. She has significant experience protecting the interests of creditors, including franchisors, insurance companies, equipment lessors, and financial institutions, in bankruptcy proceedings throughout the United States, including defending the interests of clients in fraudulent transfer and preference actions. In addition, Ms. Williams has held numerous leadership roles in the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association, the Hartford County Bar Association, the Oliver Ellsworth Inn of Court, and Statewide Legal Services of CT, Inc.
