Large Manufacturers Beware: DOJ's Request for Additional Antitrust Attorneys Portends Heightened Enforcement
March 2020
On February 11, 2020, it was reported that the DOJ’s 2021 budget request included a demand for $8.2 million in additional funding for antitrust enforcement. The budget request reflects that those funds would go towards hiring 55 additional attorneys and 32 other employees to assist the DOJ’s Antitrust Division with an increase in caseload.
The DOJ has previously publicly announced a comprehensive investigation into possible antitrust violations by large online market platforms. President Trump has suggested in recent statements that his administration is investigating Facebook, Google and Amazon, potentially for antitrust violations.
