Glenn Cunningham Appointed Chair of Interlaw
October 29, 2018
Glenn M. Cunningham, a partner with Shipman & Goodwin LLP, has been appointed as the new Chair of Interlaw, an elite global legal network with 7,000 lawyers worldwide in 140 cities.
Mr. Cunningham most recently served as Chair of the firm’s Business Litigation and Intellectual Property Practice Groups and represents publicly traded and privately held companies in intellectual property and technology cases throughout the United States. In addition to his practice, he has been an active member of Interlaw’s Board of Directors since 2015. Prior to being named Chair, Mr. Cunningham was Vice Chair, where he has worked closely with outgoing Chair Michael Siebold to solidfy the network’s strategic plan to ensure it continues to successfully attract the most reputable independent law firms to serve clients across its global operations.
Mr. Cunningham’s appointment follows a period of significant growth and advancement for Interlaw led by Mr. Siebold. As well as continuing to expand its presence in the world’s largest legal markets – the U.S. and Europe – Interlaw has also added firms from strategically important emerging markets, notably Latin America and Africa.
“It has been a privilege to lead this collective of dynamic, smart and enthusiastic independent law firm lawyers who all share a common vision – to deliver the very best legal advice and service to clients wherever they need it in the world,” said Mr. Siebold. “Today’s client demands – and deserves – the combination of supreme technical expertise and deep local insight. I believe that it is only possible to achieve this through the collaboration and continued investment of elite organizations like Interlaw and, as an active member firm, look forward to supporting Glenn and the new board members in achieving their aims.”
“Under Michael’s leadership, Interlaw has taken great strides in understanding and responding to the needs of global clients. Thanks to his strategic focus, the organization is flourishing and I look forward to working with our new board members John O’Sullivan, Neftali Garro and Kevin Degkai Zhu, as well as existing board directors, to drive forward our plans to become the global legal practice of choice for clients around the world,” said Mr. Cunningham.
