Shipman & Goodwin’s Partner and General Counsel, Anne Littlefield was named as one of Hartford Business Journal’s (“HBJ”) Top 25 Women in Business for 2024. HBJ’s annual list recognizes women who lead organizations in the greater Hartford region, highlighting the range of industries they represent, the obstacles they overcome and the milestones they achieve. Winners are nominated by readers and chosen by a panel of independent judges.
A member of Shipman’s School Law practice, Anne represents schools in labor relations, employment and education law, including collective bargaining, personnel policies and practices, constitutional law, special education, student discipline, freedom of information and education policies. She also serves as general counsel to Shipman, the first woman to serve in that role in the firm’s 105-year history. She oversees risk management, legal ethics, corporate governance and professional responsibility for Shipman’s nearly 300 lawyers and administrative personnel.
HBJ published a brief profile of Anne as well as each of the other winners. When asked what she hoped her legacy would be once her career was over, Anne responded, “I hope people can say of me that I always tried to do the right thing in every challenging situation, and that I was a consistent voice for fairness at work, in the wider practice of law, and in the communities in which I lived and worked.”
The Top 25 Women in Business award winners were published by the HBJ on April 1st; winners will be celebrated at an awards dinner on May 2 at the Aqua Turf Club in the Plantsville section of Southington.
