In Washington Post Article, Mike Chase Shares Not-So-Funny Reason Behind Humorous Laws

Following the publication of his new book, How to Become a Federal Criminal: An Illustrated Handbook for the Aspiring Offender, Shipman & Goodwin attorney Michael Chase shares his views in The Washington Post on lawmaking run amuck. In “There oughta be a law! Oh, wait, there already is,” Mr. Chase describes the growing practice of Congress giving lawmaking authority to federal agencies. The result – the creation of “an incoherent and largely accidental body of criminal law” – was the inspiration for Mr. Chase’s A Crime A Day (@CrimeADay) Twitter feed and subsequent book.
