Hawkins Elected to ABA's Board of Governors

Barry C. Hawkins, a partner with the firm, has been elected to the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association (ABA). The ABA is one of the world’s largest voluntary professional organizations, with nearly 400,000 members; the Board of Governors oversees the general operation of the association.

Attorney Hawkins’ term on the Board will run through the 2017 Annual Meeting.  Currently, he is serving as a Connecticut State Delegate for the ABA’s House of Delegates and a member of the Executive Council of the National Conference of Bar Presidents (an affiliate of the ABA).  In addition, he is a past president of the Connecticut Bar Association and a Director of the New England Bar Association.

Attorney Hawkins is a member of the firm’s Real Estate, Environmental and Land Use practice. He is the former Division Chair of the National Uniform Law Commission and the former Chair of the National Enactment Committee of the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA).  Along with his practice, he is a frequent speaker and author on UPMIFA and other endowment spending issues as well as on real estate, land use and environmental issues.
