Shipman & Goodwin is a Diamond Sponsor of the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association’s 2014 Annual Dinner being held on May 1, 2014. Crawford is a volunteer state-wide organization that has represented the collective body of black attorneys in Connecticut since 1977, and is a statewide affiliate of the National Bar Association. In addition to Crawford’s premier fundraising event, the Annual Dinner serves as a platform for recognition of individuals that have made significant contributions within their respective fields. In the past, with its Trailblazer and Visionary Awards, Crawford has recognized individuals such as James T. Breedlove, Bill Strickland, Dr. Constance Belton Green, Lewis J. Robinson, Reginald R. Paige, Sr. and Senator Sanford Cloud, Jr. This year, Crawford will recognize Floyd W. Green, III, Vice President and Head of Community Relations and Urban Marketing for Aetna, Inc., with its 2014 Visionary Award and the Honorable Flemming L. Norcott, Jr., retired Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, with its 2014 Trailblazer Award.

Crawford will also recognize recipients of its Priscilla Green Scholarship, which is a scholarship given to accomplished law students demonstrating a commitment to practicing law in Connecticut and current societal contributions in furtherance of Crawford’s mission.
