Firm's Volunteer Projects Benefit Stamford's Domus Youth

June 29, 2016

More than 90 volunteers from Shipman & Goodwin LLP spent an afternoon at Domus Kids, Inc.’s Trailblazers Academy in Stamford, the site of the this year’s annual lawyers’ community day.

Domus is a nonprofit social services organization that operates educational, residential and community programs for more than 1,100 youth in Stamford and New Haven. Trailblazers Academy is its alternative charter middle school in Stamford, which provides a different learning environment to support students in grades six, seven and eight in reaching their full potential.

Attorneys from the firm’s Connecticut, New York and Washington, DC offices worked throughout the Academy’s facility to build new window frames and repair windows; clean and organize the cafeteria, media center, community room and classrooms; paint stairwells and hallways; clean lockers; and weed and landscape the grounds.

In addition, through contributions collected from attorneys and staff, more than $1,000 and 12 boxes of toiletry supplies were donated to Domus. “We work hard at the firm to serve the communities in which we work and to contribute to the effort to make our world a better place,” said Alan E. Lieberman, Managing Partner at Shipman & Goodwin. “Our efforts were both greatly needed and heartily appreciated by the people at Domus.”
