Firm's Volunteer Projects Benefit Asylum Hill Boys & Girls Club in Hartford

June 19, 2017

The Asylum Hill Boys & Girls Club in Hartford was the site of the this year’s annual lawyers’ community day, where more than 90 volunteers from Shipman & Goodwin spent an afternoon sprucing up the facility in preparation for the Club’s Summer Fun Camp. With supportive staff members and volunteers, the Asylum Hill Clubhouse provides a stable, positive environment to help young people thrive, especially those most in need.

Attorneys from the firm’s Connecticut, New York and Washington, DC offices cleaned and painted locker rooms, three large hallways and the atrium; trimmed and pruned hedges; performed general landscaping; painted tables in the art room and repaired stools; stained and repaired picnic tables; cleaned the kitchen, gym, 150 bleacher seats, fabric furniture and lighting fixtures; created a logo for the computer room; organized two large gym closets and a collection of storage bins; sanitized toys for the Early Learning Center; and prepared classroom bulletin boards to welcome the campers. In addition to providing all of the supplies used in the day’s projects, the firm donated $1,800 collected from attorney and staff contributions.

The firm appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with the Boys & Girls Club in making a positive impact on youth in the Hartford area.
