Firm Attorneys Take Leadership Roles in CT Bar's Young Lawyers Section

Robert L. Day III and Alfredo G. Fernandez have been chosen to serve on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section (CBA YLS) for the 2016-2017 term. Through its programs and committees, CBA YLS promotes justice, encourages public service and supports the diversity and education of young lawyers and newly admitted practitioners.

Robert Day is the Chair of the Tax Law Committee.  He is a member of the firm’s Tax and Employee Benefits Practice Group, where he practices primarily in the areas of federal, state and local taxation. Prior to joining Shipman & Goodwin, Mr. Day spent several years in the tax practice of a public accounting firm. He regularly counsels a wide variety of taxpayers including individuals, manufacturers, insurers, media companies, financial institutions, hedge funds, and asset management funds.  Mr. Day also has experience representing these clients in tax controversies before the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services and other taxing authorities.

Alfredo Fernandez is the Diversity Director of the CBA YLS and previously served as the section’s Social Media Director. He is a member of the firm’s Government Investigations and White Collar Criminal Defense Group, with a focus on International Trade Compliance and Enforcement. He works with clients on compliance and enforcement matters involving the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and other related U.S. laws and policies affecting international trade and business. Mr. Fernandez is also currently serving as the President-Elect of the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association.
