Julie C. Fay and Sarah E. Gleason will present: Managing Student Mental Health.
This session will discuss the legal responsibilities of independent schools to at risk students and best practices for managing student mental health issues within the school environment.In our discussion, we will examine what constitutes a reasonable accommodation under the ADA, issues related to confidentiality and best practices for granting (or requiring) medical leaves of absence, as well as discuss recent cases and trends from higher education impacting student health policies.
The event will feature a Thursday keynote: Untempered Mortar: Building Stronger Foundations for Inclusive, Sustainable, and Diverse Leadership, by Staci Seeley, Managing Director at Storbeck Search | Diversified Search Group.
And a Friday keynote by Heather Hoerle, Executive Director of Enrollment Management Association (EMA), who will share an update on Connecticut enrollment trends from EMA’s State of the Industry report.
Participants will also choose from 12 concurrent sessions on topics ranging from sessions for different demographics, including Strategic Small School Governance for a New Era and Risk Management for Boarding Schools to general topics appropriate for all independent school trustees, such as Good Governance: Roles and Legal Responsibilities for Board Members and Ask A Panel of Heads the Question You’d Like to Ask Your Own.
