The legislative session adjourns sine die on May 9, 2012 – less than two weeks away. As of yesterday, the General Assembly has passed approximately 13 Public Acts; based on 2010 and 2008 short sessions, the number of new Public Acts this year will likely be near 190. In the next 12 days (counting likely weekend sessions) the General Assembly will be hard at work passing the remaining 170+ Public Acts (many of which have already passed one chamber or the other).
Of course, it is the content, not the number, of the new Public Acts that will concern those affected by them. The Table below contains a list of select bills related to the environment, energy, and land use (organized by committee of origin). If you would like more information on any of the bills listed below, you can follow the "Bill Status" link to get its text, a summary and fiscal note, and its current status.
Many of the bills will be amended between now and the end of the session so if you are tracking specific bills, now is the time to search the legislative database for those amendments. To check for called or uncalled amendments, go to the "Bill Status" page and look for links to amendments or search all amendments from the General Assembly's website search page: http://search.cga.state.ct.us. The drafting process continues through the final session day so new amendments may appear at any time. However, the reprinting process for amended bills changes for the final four days of the session because of the pace of action. Bills amended after May 5 are not required to be reprinted (although they may be) before final action. You may have to piece together the final language using the latest file copy and any adopted amendments.
