UConn Law School
55 Elizabeth Street
Hartford, CT

For the fourth consecutive year, Shipman & Goodwin is honored to be the exclusive law firm sponsor of Diversity Week at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Diversity Week 2016 is a campus-wide event that showcases UConn Law School’s commitment to offering a safe and diverse environment. This year’s theme is “Behind the Mask,” which will focus on non-apparent forms of diversity, including such topics as mental health, substance abuse, socioeconomic diversity and religious diversity. The week will end with a community service project sorting food with UCONN law students at Foodshare in the morning and a diversity showcase in the evening.

Activities throughout the week provide opportunities to celebrate the uniqueness of all members of the Law School community including a kickoff luncheon with welcome remarks provided by the firm, a panel discussion on socioeconomics and the law that will be moderated by Shipman & Goodwin attorney Vaughan Finn; a discussion on the gender pay gap, hiring preferences and sentencing disparities; a session on mental health and substance abuse; and a panel discussion on balancing religious and professional identities. This year’s keynote speaker will be Shawn Watts, Associate Director of Columbia Law School’s Mediation Program.
