G. Cunningham and J. Ryan Honored by IRISH LEGAL 100

Glenn M. Cunningham and John W. Ryan, both partners with Shipman & Goodwin LLP, were recognized by the IRISH LEGAL 100 at an Awards Reception hosted by Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States, Anne Anderson. The IRISH LEGAL 100 is an annual compilation of the most distinguished legal professionals in the United States who share one common bond: pride in their Irish roots.

Mr. Cunningham and Mr. Ryan join the ranks of legal scholars, attorneys from some of the country’s top legal firms and members of the judiciary who have distinguished themselves in their fields of endeavor. Members also include United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, United States Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and United States Ambassador to Ireland Kevin O’Malley.

Mr. Cunningham, Chair of the firm’s Business Litigation and Intellectual Property practices, represents publicly traded and privately held companies in intellectual property and technology cases throughout the United States. His trial practice includes the prosecution and defense of unfair competition, non-competition agreement, trade secret, trademark, patent and copyright cases. For nearly a decade, Mr. Cunningham was a Lecturer at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he taught Trial Advocacy.  He was recently elected to the Board of Directors of Interlaw, an elite international network of full-service independent law firms. In addition, Mr. Cunningham is a current member of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Technology Council.

Mr. Ryan has more than 25 years of experience as a registered patent attorney handling matters involving litigation, due diligence, licensing, infringement and validity opinions, freedom to operate opinions, portfolio management and patent preparation and prosecution. He has worked in a wide variety of technical disciplines including biotechnology, medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Earlier this year, Mr. Ryan served as a Presiding Officer of the 10th Annual Advanced Patent Law Institute held at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in Alexandria, VA. Mr. Ryan was previously an adjunct professor at Albany Law School, where he taught Licensing of Intellectual Property.
