On January 17, 2013, the Department of Health and Human Services released the long-anticipated final rule modifying the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act’s (“HIPAA”) privacy, security, breach notification and enforcement regulations. Covered entities and business associates will have until September 23, 2013 to comply with most of the modifications.

In order to ensure that our clients and friends maintain continued compliance, the Shipman & Goodwin Health Law Practice Group will be presenting this complimentary two-part workshop covering the key changes that will affect providers’ policies, procedures and day-to-day operations. We will also provide sample policies, procedures and agreements reflecting the modifications.

Both sessions will be held at our Hartford office at One Constitution Plaza. This is a two-part series, so we recommend that you register for both sessions.

Session I Agenda:

  • Overview of the Final Rule
  • Managing Business Associates and Subcontractors
  • Research
  • Marketing and Fundraising
  • Restrictions on Disclosures of PHI
  • Individual Rights
  • Sale of PHI
  • Notice of Privacy Practices

Session II Agenda:
