Carolyn Cavolo practices in all areas of commercial and residential real estate and commercial finance.  She regularly represents individuals, trusts, developers, financial institutions and planned communities in connection with the purchase, financing, development and leasing of commercial and residential properties.

Carolyn’s residential practice focuses on individuals and developers, including the financing and acquisition of properties as well as obtaining zoning and other land use approvals from municipal agencies, commissions and land use boards.  Carolyn also represents private tax districts and planned communities, including condominium associations, and has extensive experience in corporate governance under the Connecticut Common Interest Ownership Act.

Carolyn’s commercial practice focuses on counseling financial institutions and private equity firms in connection with commercial real estate financing, including loan restructuring and workouts.  Carolyn’s practice also includes the representation of individuals, developers and municipalities in private and public construction and development projects, as well as the representation of both landlords and tenants in commercial leasing of office and retail properties.

Headquarters Development for Billion-dollar Hedge Fund

Represent SAC Capital Advisors, LLC with their headquarters facility in Stamford. The firm also represented SAC in leasing two additional buildings in the Soundview Farm Corporate Park (where SAC is located) to accommodate the overflow functions which can no longer be accommodated in the HQ building. The reconstruction and outfitting of these new buildings is now underway and the firm also represents SAC on the contracting phase.

$97 Million REIT Acquisition of 13 Separate Industrial, Commercial and Office Properties

Served as local counsel in the $97M acquisition of 13 separate industrial, commercial and office properties in Berlin, Orange, Windsor and North Haven, Connecticut by HRPT Properties Trust of Newton, Massachusetts. Assisted client with extensive title, zoning and land use reviews of the subject properties, and counseled client on the various possibilities for development and the current status of the properties with regard to compliance with regulations. Firm also represented the client in the assumption of financing in connection with the acquisition.

HRPT Properties Trust is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that primarily owns and leases $5.6 billion of office and industrial properties with approximately 58 million square feet located in 33 states and Washington, D.C.
