Alfredo G. Fernandez Recognized by the ABA as a Young Lawyer on the Rise

Alfredo G. Fernandez has been selected as a recipient of the 2016 American Bar Association (ABA) On the Rise - Top 40 Young Lawyers Award given by the ABA’s Young Lawyers Division. Honorees are young lawyers who have made significant contributions to the legal profession while being inspirations in the community, and were chosen from among thousands of nominations across the country.  

Mr. Fernandez focuses his practice on International Trade Compliance and Enforcement.  He works with clients on matters involving international trade laws, including export controls and economic sanctions.  He also counsels clients on environmental, health and safety laws involving transnational and domestic chemical transactions.  He reaches a national audience as a frequent author and speaker on trade compliance issues, including participating on panels with senior practitioners and federal law enforcement. 

Mr. Fernandez also handles many pro bono matters, focusing primarily on housing issues.  In addition to his practice, he has taken on a number of leadership roles in professional organizations, including as President-Elect of the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association and as a director on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section. Volunteer efforts in the community have included serving as a Board Member of the Compass Youth Collaborative, Inc., participating as a judge at the Connecticut Invention Convention and tutoring students from Hartford’s Fred D. Wish School.
