"Take A Child to Work Day" Offers Hands-On Experiences in a Law Firm

April 30, 2013

More than two dozen fourth- through eighth-grade students spent “Take A Child to Work Day” with attorneys and staff from Shipman & Goodwin LLP in Downtown Hartford, Connecticut. The girls and boys experienced, first-hand, the inside workings of a law firm and expanded their knowledge of the profession. The group included sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends and neighbors of Shipman & Goodwin employees. Students enjoyed a busy day of law-related activities, including mock courtroom debates about year-round school attendance and physical education as an elective after 6th grade, a tour of the Old State House and visits to Probate Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court. To share in the firm’s commitment to community service, students also created pictures for children at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
