"Take A Child to Work Day" Offers Hands-On Experiences In A Law Firm

April 30, 2012

More than two dozen fourth through eighth grade students spent April 26’s “Take A Child to Work Day” with attorneys and staff at our Hartford office. The girls and boys experienced, first-hand, the inside workings of a law firm and expanded their knowledge of the profession. The students included sons and daughters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, neighbors and friends of Shipman & Goodwin employees. Their busy day of activities included mock courtroom debates about cell phones in schools and random locker checks. Featured were visits to U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Hartford, the Connecticut State Capitol where laws are established, and a special meeting with Connecticut Supreme Court Chief Justice Chase T. Rogers. The students also worked on a Community Service Project, designing cheery cards for older patients and residents of Jefferson House in Newington, Conn.
