Paul Sanson and Karen Staib, Co-Chair of the American Bar Association: Forum on Franchising; Petroleum Marketing Committee of the Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, will participate in the 2015 ABA Petroleum Marketing Attorney's Meeting, April 16-17, 2015.

This meeting will provide timely and thought-provoking presentations on topics such as commercial litigation and antitrust updates as well as emerging industry issues that affect refiners, distributors, and retailers. Attendees routinely include in-house and outside counsel involved in all aspects of petroleum marketing, and the meeting will provide opportunities for learning about critical issues to the industry as well as connecting and networking with other counsel.

Karen Staib will begin the event with the welcome and opening remarks, and Paul Sanson will present the session, "Commercial Litigation and PMPA Update." This session will review the 2014–2015 court decisions that are of importance to the petroleum marketing attorney including developments under the Petroleum Marketing Practices Act, state franchise protection statutes, gasoline pricing cases, state enforcement actions, federal agency investigations, and state law claims. The session will also explore the applicability of the PMPA to agreements that provide rights to a motor fuel trademark, but do not have a direct motor fuel supply component.
