Trial Practices and Tactics in Canada and the United States

American Bar Association Annual Meeting

August 4, 2011

Speakers: Robert R. Simpson

August 4, 2011
Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building
Toronto, ON

This program will feature characteristics of trial practices in Canada and the United States. Barristers from Canada and trial lawyers from the United States will face off trying a hypothetical case in which the plaintiff claims wrongful termination and a hostile work environment. The audience will observe excerpts of opening statements, direct, cross-examinations, and closing arguments by the talented lawyers from each country. A brief panel discussion with opportunity for questions and answers from the audience will follow the trial. Judges from the United States and Canada will participate as well as a mock jury.
