Michael Widland Honored by Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County

Shipman & Goodwin partner Michael L. Widland received the ACE Citizen Award from the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County (CAFC) for his dedication in contributing to the enrichment and prosperity of arts and culture in Fairfield County. CAFC’s mission is to support cultural organizations, artists and creative businesses by providing promotion, services and advocacy. The organization’s ACE Awards, which stand for Arts & Culture Empowerment, recognize recipients in five categories for their long-time support and commitment to the arts and culture sector of Fairfield County.

Michael is a member of the firm’s Business and Finance Practice Group, where he has developed an extensive practice representing major corporate clients, developers and lenders in corporate law, commercial financing and public transportation matters, as well as restructures, workouts and reorganizations.

For many years, Michael has demonstrated his strong commitment to civic and charitable organizations that are vital to Fairfield County. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Palace Theatre/Stamford Center for the Arts, Secretary and Former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Mill River Park Collaborative. He has also contributed his time and experience to guiding not-for-profit entities through expansions, changes in leadership, reorganizations and a variety of other challenges.
