Environment, Energy and Land Use Legislative Update

May 10, 2012

The legislative session adjourned late yesterday evening.  The table below is a preliminary list of new Public Acts regarding environment, energy, and land use that may be of interest (based on information available at this time).  This is not intended to be a comprehensive list but rather a select list based on bills we have been monitoring during the session.  The Acts are organized in the table by their committee of origin.  If you do not see a bill that you were interested in, you can find a list of all bills that passed one chamber or the other on the General Assembly's website:  http://www.cga.ct.gov/2012/lbp/lobp.htm.

Many of the Acts passed in the closing days of the session do not have Public Act numbers yet; as the Public Act numbers become available, they will appear on the "Bill Status" page.  If a bill was amended but did not receive a new file copy before final passage, then the most recent file copy is listed in the table below along with links to each of the subsequent amendments (e.g., House A; Senate A) adopted.

The Governor has 15 days from the date of receipt of an engrossed bill to either sign or veto the bill.  If after 15 days he has not signed or vetoed the bill, it automatically becomes law.  If any Public Acts are vetoed, the legislature will hold a veto session to consider or attempt to override those vetoes.
