Environment, Energy and Land Use Legislative Update

May 30, 2013

The legislative session ends in one week on June 5, 2013. The final week is always one of the busiest times for action in both chambers. To date, the General Assembly has adopted 69 Public Acts. In the two most recent long sessions, 2011 and 2009, it passed 256 and 255 Public Acts, respectively. If these numbers are any indication, the next week will again be very busy for the House and Senate.

Not coincidentally, this is also the busiest time of year for bill amendments. While the drafting process continues through the final session days, the reprinting process for file copies does not, due in large part to the pace of the action. Bills amended after June 1 are not required to be reprinted before final action. So, if you are tracking specific bills, now is the time to search the legislative database to see what uncalled amendments may be awaiting those bills when they come up for a vote (or to piece together the final language using the latest file copy and any adopted amendments after the bill has passed). To find called or uncalled amendments (1) go to the "Bill Status" page for your bill and look for links to amendments or (2) search all amendments from the General Assembly's website search page: http://search.cga.state.ct.us.
