Environment, Energy and Land Use Legislative Update

April 29, 2008

Authors: Matthew Ranelli

The legislative session ends in just over one week on May 7, 2008. The activity at the General Assembly has already sped up. The House and Senate are scheduled to meet every day this week (and the House on Saturday). The table below is a select list environmental and land use related bills that may be of interest. The bill text and a short plain language summary are available by clicking on the "file copy" for each bill.

Many bills will be amended on the floor of both chambers in the final days. Under the legislative rules bills are reprinted with the amended text before final action; however, because of the pace of activities in the final days reprinting is not required for bills acted on after May 3, 2008 and before the end of the session. Therefore, the best way to check for amendments in the final days of the session is to check the "bill status" page for adopted amendments. On the other hand, if you are looking to see whether a bill that has died may be revived as an amendment, you may want to search the called or uncalled amendments database from the General Assembly's website search page: http://search.cga.state.ct.us (of course not all amendments are filed well in advance of being called so there are always some surprises).
