Employment Law Conference

Connecticut Department of Labor

November 14, 2008

When:
November 14, 2008
Where:
Marriott Hotel
Farmington, CT

These programs have been designed to help employers comply with Connecticut employment laws and have generally been directed towards human resources professionals. The idea for a full day conference came from attendees at the morning programs, looking for an opportunity to learn about a broad range of topics in a single forum.

The conference will include a morning plenary session and afternoon workshops, as well as a continental breakfast and sit-down luncheon. The morning session will address a variety of topics including:

  • Wage and Hour laws
  • Drug Testing
  • Health and Safety Law Compliance
  • FMLA
  • Unemployment Insurance
  • Employee vs. Independent Issues
  • Laws Protecting Returning Reservists

The afternoon will include four intensive workshops in which the Department of Labor staff will present with leading employment law attorneys in a format that relies on real life scenarios:

  • Making your case in an unemployment insurance appeals hearing, featuring Henry Zaccardi
  • Family and Medical Leave Act: Answering your toughest questions
  • Top ten issues arising in wage investigations
  • Workplace justice: Identifying and resolving employment disputes before they become lawsuits
