Brian Clemow Inducted into Hall of Fame of Nation's Most Powerful Employment Attorneys

July 18, 2016

In recognition of the scope of his experience and knowledge in the practice of labor and employment law, Shipman & Goodwin LLP partner Brian Clemow has been inducted into the Most Powerful Employment Attorneys Hall of Fame by Lawdragon and Human Resource Executive.

Mr. Clemow is among only 10 attorneys nationwide to receive this distinction and is the only Connecticut attorney to be selected. According to Lawdragon and Human Resource Executive, selection to this exclusive list reflects “consistent recognition for all-around excellence in counseling clients, contributing to the bar and serving as a visionary to improve workplaces.”

While representing public and private employers in labor relations and employment law matters for more than 40 years, Mr. Clemow has handled a variety of notable cases. For example, he represented the West Hartford Board of Education in the landmark case that established the parameters for teacher collective bargaining in Connecticut, and negotiated a management contract with a for-profit education company on behalf of the Hartford Board of Education, which was the first municipality in the nation to hire a company to help manage its entire public school district. Mr. Clemow also counsels CEOs and other senior executives regarding employment contracts and other employment-related agreements.

Mr. Clemow is a former Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law section, and is a frequent speaker on employment-related topics before business and professional groups. He has taught various courses in labor relations and employment law at the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Previously, Mr. Clemow was named one of the Top 20 Attorneys in Traditional Labor & Employment (2012 and 2014), one of the Nation’s Most Powerful Employment Attorneys in Labor (2013) and one of the 100 Most Powerful Corporate Employment Attorneys in America (2011).
