Aaron Levy and Nathan Plotkin Named New Leaders in the Law

Aaron D. Levy and Nathan Z. Plotkin have been named “New Leaders in the Law” by the Connecticut Law Tribune, which honors attorneys under the age of 40 who have made significant contributions to the legal profession.
Aaron Levy is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate, Environmental and Land Use Practice Group, where he counsels clients on environmental regulatory compliance and transactional due diligence with respect to a wide range of federal and state environmental, health and safety laws. He also advises clients on environmental risks and liabilities associated with mergers and acquisitions and develops and negotiates environmental insurance programs and other agreements to creatively “box in” environmental risks and liabilities. He regularly counsels private and public entities (including schools) regarding compliance with remediation requirements under federal and state laws, as well as the abatement of hazardous building materials (such as asbestos, lead, PCBs). Mr. Levy is a frequent speaker on a wide range of environmental, health & safety issues. In 2017 and 2018, he was recognized in the Environment category by Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers. From 2013 to 2017, he was listed by Connecticut Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the Environmental area. Mr. Levy has been a member of the Board of Directors of Leadership Greater Hartford since 2017. In addition, he is a volunteer mentor for Hartford’s Fred D. Wish School and has participated as a mentor in the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity Student Mentor Program.
Nathan Z. Plotkin is a partner and a member of the firm’s Business and Finance Practice Group and nationally known Corporate Trust Client Team. He regularly represents corporate trustees, collateral agents, escrow agents and other fiduciaries and agents in corporate debt issues, high-yield bond financings, project finance and other secured and unsecured financing transactions. Mr. Plotkin also represents trustees and agents in distressed and default situations, and frequently represents administrative agents in debtor-in-possession financing transactions involving high-profile Chapter 11 cases around the country. In addition, he has represented large companies in complex financing transactions in the oil and gas, retail, technology, biotech and life sciences and financial industries. In 2017, Mr. Plotkin was listed as a Rising Star in the area of Securities & Corporate Finance by Connecticut Super Lawyers. He contributes his time and experience to pro bono work, where he represents DACA recipients and veterans in connection with discharge upgrade matters in order to secure better benefits. He is also a volunteer student mentor for the Fred D. Wish School in Hartford. Prior to joining Shipman & Goodwin, Mr. Plotkin worked in the investment bank and brokerage industry as Assistant General Counsel.
