Shipman & Goodwin Lends Support to Haiti

February 12, 2010

The tragic earthquake that took place in Haiti four weeks ago caused extraordinary damage and incomprehensible suffering and loss of life by so many. In an effort to help the people and the country of Haiti rebuild, the law firm of Shipman & Goodwin is matching over $15,000 in donations made by its attorneys and staff to charities that are providing direct assistance to Haiti, bringing the total of the firm’s contributions to well over $30,000. The Firm's matching contribution will be split evenly between the American Red Cross and AmeriCares, in each case earmarked for Haitian relief.

Shipman & Goodwin attorneys and staff have demonstrated their commitment to community support through board memberships of charitable and civic organizations, as advisors to government, and in substantial donations of time to individuals and organizations at the local, regional, national and international levels since 1919. Whether it is sponsoring a local shelter and providing them with holiday gifts, volunteering to assist Holocaust survivors navigate the complicated reparation application process, or sponsoring fundraisers and corporate matches to raise funds to help with much needed disaster relief efforts, the firm brings the highest level of commitment to community needs at all levels.
